The Bailey Vineyard & Winery is hosting Shakespeare in the Vines from June 7th to September 22nd, 2018. King Lear, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged!), Richard II, and All’s Well That Ends Well will be performed for guests in this beautiful outdoor venue. Follow King Lear as the British King tests his three daughters before handing over the kingdom, track the conquest of house Lancaster in Richard II, and watch the complicated love story of Bertram and Helena in All’s Well That Ends Well. Because this is an outdoor venue, it is recommended that you bring a blanket and warm clothes as night falls and the weather cools. There will be tables and chairs to sit at, so you will not need to bring your own. However, you may wish to bring a pillow or cushion if you do not want to sit on something other than a wooden chair. If you wish, you may bring a picnic dinner, though outside alcohol is not permitted. Fortunately, there will be soda and alcohol for purchase if you wish to enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the show. Foods that travel well are recommended, like sandwiches, salads, popcorn, and sweets. If you choose not to bring your own food or forget yours at home, the venue also sells snacks to keep your hunger at bay. Tickets are available for purchase from their site, with $22 for general admission, and a discounted $17 for seniors, students, and members of the military (with a presented ID). If you are willing to pay a little more, for $30 you can purchase a ticket for the “Royal Reserved Preferred Seating.” A season ticket will cost a bit more, but I you wish to see each of the shows, you can save a little money with that purchase. This is truly a worthwhile event, with good company, delicious wine, and fantastic plays. Be sure to get your tickets early, and visit www.shakespeareinthevines.org for more information. See you there!
